The Swan Hotel and Spa

Newby Bridge, Lake District

A hotel with over a hundred rooms initially, recently expanded to include a £6 million spa. Hotel facilities also include space for conferences and weddings, with a mixture of onsite and remote workers.  The Hotel approached Network Motion to install and manage its guest wireless infrastructure. Following operational growth, the leadership team requested that Network Motion take full responsibility for its internal IT environment, providing a fully managed service.

What We Did

The first stage of the engagement involved reviewing the existing IT setup and creating a full picture of all systems and equipment. Network Motion assessed the hotel’s digital security, identified gaps, and prioritised improvements. A key early step was replacing ageing internal systems to improve stability and performance. The hotel’s core systems were upgraded to ensure essential services could run reliably, with safeguards against downtime or data loss.

Network Motion introduced centralised tools to keep all systems updated automatically and to protect against security threats. A new support model was introduced to make it easier for staff to raise issues or ask for help through a single point of contact, regardless of whether services were delivered by Network Motion or a third party.

What We Delivered

The hotel experienced faster response times to support requests and improved efficiency across departments. Having a single technology partner simplified decision making and gave directors greater control over IT spending. Integrated systems helped staff work more effectively by reducing manual work and making better use of business data.

Security was strengthened across all devices, with data backed up regularly and consistently. Older systems were phased out in favour of cloud based tools, allowing for more flexible working and reduced reliance on on-site servers.

What Happened

Network Motion became the hotel’s strategic IT partner, supporting not only the day to day operation of systems but also advising on all future technology projects. This engagement enabled the management team to extract more business value from IT investment, using systems and data in a connected, informed, and commercially focused manner.
